Role overview
VSO Mozambique's current programme portfolio focuses on Education, Health and Secure Livelihoods. Working with a range of partners and funders we support the improvement and access to basic education for girls. Our Health programme focuses on HIV/AIDS, sexual reproductive health and promoting secure livelihoods. Working together with a highly-motivated team, you will translate our strategy into lasting, meaningful improvements in the lives of the country’s poorest people. You will work with our strategic partners to shape our goals, create national strategy, raise our profile, network with government agencies, donors and other international agencies, and generally be a walking, talking embodiment of our values and vision. You will champion and lead on impact focused programming. You will also provide oversight on how our people are managed, take responsibility for financial and resource management and legal compliance.
Skills, qualifications and experience required
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced development professional to provide strategic, programmatic and operational leadership to one of VSOs biggest programmes. You will have at least 10 years experience in successfully managing development programmes and 5 years experience of leading a country team. You will also demonstrate confidence in context and poverty analysis and in leading a team to interpret this as they develop and deliver effective evidence based programmes.
As an experienced senior manager you will l have excellent leadership, negotiation and relationship-building skills. Your ability to demonstrate the impact of your programming on the lives of poor and marginalised people will be key to your success in planning and resourcing innovative programmes. Experience securing external funding and managing multiple grants is essential.
