Role in Organization:
CAMRIS seeks a qualified Nutrition Specialist for an anticipated multi-year USAID/Malawi funded project called Integrating Nutrition in Value Chains II in Malawi. The Nutrition Specialist will work closely with USAID to ensure that project objectives are met and exceeded. The Nutrition Specialist is in charge of the overall design, practical support, execution and management of the nutrition element of the Integrating Nutrition in Value Chains II.
Description:
Essential functions, duties, responsibilities:
- Provide seamless implementation of project activities in compliance with the project terms and in collaboration with USAID policies and procedures.
- Contribute detailed support for analysis and research to obtain more knowledge on health and nutrition projects.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on hygiene, nutrition, and sanitation to local government organizations and project partners.
- Ensure that lessons learned are all documented properly and submitted to development partners and CAMRIS HQ.
- Design nutrition plans based on the local soy and groundnut products.
- Represent INVC II at relevant meetings and establish that all INVC II goals and deadlines are met in accordance with USAID/CAMRIS rules and regulations.
- Create and format quarterly and annual project reports and plans to be distributed to the DCOP and INVC II.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Nutrition Specialist will be under the supervisory responsibilities of DCOP.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health, agriculture and nutrition preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with farmers, preferably for USAID.
- At least three years of experience working in Southeast Africa, Malawi experience highly preferred.
- Excellent writing and presentation ability, with demonstrated experience working constructively with high-level government counterparts.
- Experience in facilitating multi-sectorial and multi-country partnerships.
- Professional fluency in English required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and regular hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel:Travel throughout Malawi and Southeast Africa is expected. Regional or international travel may be required.
