Accountant/Administrator – Motivation

Motivation is a UK based international NGO and has been implementing programmes in the disability sector since 1991 across Africa, Asia, Central America and eastern Europe, working with local and international organisations, Motivation focuses on the survival, mobility, empowerment and inclusion of person with disabilities

Motivation is collaborating with the local partners in Malawi to implement a project titled “Increasing survival a d reducing the poverty of disabled children and adults in Malawi” funded by the UK Dept for international Development Global Poverty Impact Fund  (DFIDGPAF)
Responsible to Malawi Country Manger

Primarily providing financial management and accounting operational services in liaison with the Malawi Country Manager, Regional, Accountant and the UB-based Financial Controller

Support the Malawi Country Manager to generate timely budgets for the implementation of activities of the project, Maintain the cashbook for funds relating to the project, Maintain the cashbook for other activities relating to motivation projects in Malawi, Ensure that the receipt books, payment vouchers and bank statements are filed accordingly, Reconcile the cashbooks to the bank statements on a monthly basis, Prepare finical reports on a monthly basis and share these with the Malawi Country Manger and the motivation financials controllers based at the regional office and in the UK office, Ensure the safekeeping of all security items, Facilitate the timely man payment of all organisational bills, Organise payments for the Terms of reference for staff working for the project or any other person as shall be delegated by the Malawi Country Manager, generate all financial claims (transfer requests from the UK office of Motivation), Liaise with project partners to ensure that payments are made timeously for activities and administrative purpose, Perform quarterly partners audit to verify expenditures, Visit partners to provide technical support and ensure that they understand and abide by the Motivation and DFID financial guidelines, procedures and templates for efficiency and transparency, Ensure that all logistical needs for visiting staff rom Motivation are efficiently organised, Manage wheelchair stock procured by the project and delivered by project partners

Diploma in accounting or close related discipline, Experience of successfully monitoring and managing project budgets, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with all elves of management within the organisation, Strong teamplayer but also able to work under own initiative, and  unsupervised, Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work efficiently, Excellent computer literacy Maintain a high level  of confidentiality due to the nature of the work, Excellent attention to detail, Strong accuracy, composition and administrative skills, Fluent in English

Knowledge or experience of the charity sector/social enterprise, Experience of working with people with disabilities
