Research Technician

Research Technician – Feed the Future Malawi Improved Seed Systems and Technologies (MISST) Project – Aflatoxin Control – Lilongwe – Chitedze Research Station 

Will work under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Research Supervisor

Position is under general national staff category on Pay Grade 5

Maintain and operate basic laboratory equipment, Assist with proper data entry in lab books and document on computer, Assist with culture/isolate storage appropriately, Conduct other assignments as assigned by supervisor

Diploma in Microbiology/Plant Pathology/Crop Protection, At least 2 yrs experience in a microbiology research laboratory

Experience in Aspergillus microbiology research, Able to follow instructions and work independently where necessary, Good interpersonal relations, Good organizational, communication skills, Able to work under pressure, Available to work outside office hours and for extended hours where necessary, Available to travel where necessary 

These positions will be based at IITA-Malawi offices, Chitedze Research Station, Lilongwe
