MMCT is an environmental endowment trust established in April 2000 to provide long-term reliable support for biodiversity conservation of the Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve (MMFR), MMCT fulfills this mandate through 3 programme interventions a namely biodiversity conservation, research and monitoring, Forest C-management and Sustainable Livelihoods, and Environmental Education and Communication, MMCT works in collaboration with the Department of Forestry as a key stakeholder, including the local traditional leadership, community based organisations (CBOS)  other relevant local and international NGOs, the private sector, and the faith community, Other govt depts., district councils and individuals form part of the main stakeholders for implementation
 
Programme Officer responsible for Biodiversity Conservation, research and monitoring tenable in Mulanje
 
In addition the Programme Officer shall be responsible for supporting activities aimed data managing and protecting the MMFR in order to reduce threats to the ecosystem, Activities will include, but not limited to
 
Research and Monitoring - Developing and implementing a research strategy and plan in line with the Mulanje Mountain Biodiversity Conservation Project, Any other duties as assigned to him/her by management from time to time, Represent MMCT at various Biodiversity for a, Publish and disseminate research works, Produce and present to Board annual plans and technical reports generated from the implementation of the Strategy and plan, Developing and implementing a comprehensive data base for the Mulanje Mountain biodiversity and monitoring the ecosystem health status, Coordinate strategic biodiversity research aimed at building a knowledge base for conservation management, Coordinate the development of a strategy that will lead to the establishment of a permanent technical capacity required for research and monitoring work, developing and implementing a research strategy and plan in line with the Mulanje Mountain Biodiversity Conservation Project
 
Conservation – developing a program of forest and biodiversity protection and conservation actions that increase local community participations and other organisations, Coordinate the development of a strategy that will led to the establishment of a permanent community-based capacity required for adequate conservation and protection work, In collaboration with the Forestry Department and other relevant stakeholders, develop and implement an ecological resource conservation plan for the natural resources available in Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve, Design new and maintain firebreak networks for particularly sensitive areas, develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the eradication of invasive alien species, Implement conservation and protection plans for Mulanje Cedar and for mid-altitude indigenous forests, Supervise and monitor labour force that carries the above actions, represent MMCT at various Forestry meetings and forums, Any other duties as assigned to him/her by management from time to time
 
A Masters Degree in a relevant field a PhD will be an added advantage, A minimum of 5 yrs experience in project facilitated natural resources or related work, Skills and competence in writing scientific reports, Practical knowledge of statistical software packages for data analysis, Good communication skills
