Community Nurse FP/Immunization Integration, MSC, Dowa District – Malawi, Start date: immediately
 
Activities in Dowa and Ntchisi Districts, The position entails frequent travel to support fixed, outreach immunization and family planning activities in Dowa and Ntchisi Districts, The candidate should expect to travel to the field about 90% of his/her time, The position is based in Dowa District
 
Reporting to the MCSP Program Director,
 
The Maternal and Child Survival Program (MSCP) is a USAID /Bureau for Global Health flagship program that contributes to USAID’s commitment to Ending Preventable Child and maternal Deaths (EPCMD), MCSP is implemented by Jhpiego in partnership with John Snow Inc (JSI), Save the Children, ICF International Results for development, PATH, PSI, and CORE group, Working closely with the USAID mission, Malawi Govt, Ministry of Health, on govt organisations, local communities and partner agencies, MCSP supports the implementation of evidence based public health interventions at scale to achieve the goals of EPCMD over the next decade
 
The Community Nurse will be responsible for providing support to the MOH in implementing immunizations and family planning  
 
Work with district DHMTTs and MCSP staff to design and implement integration activities Ensure proper documentation of activities, develop quarterly workplans and activity plans, Formulate activity budgets, Ensure that good record keeping and reporting is carried out in facilities and by HSAs, Organise meetings with district stakeholders, Participate in rapid formative assessment and ensure necessary follow up, Ensure adequate site preparation for quality service delivery of immunizations and family planning services, work with MOH counterparts to carry out training of HSAs in immunization and family planning integration, Conduct supportive supervision to facilities in the 2 districts with district and national counterparts, Support HSAs in carrying out community sensitisation activities, Prepare monthly reports on activities carried out, Perform any other related duties as required
 
Diploma in Nurse/Midwifery Technician and Diploma in Community health Nursing, Should be registered with the Nurses and midwives Council of Malawi At least 2 yrs of work experience preferably in a community or health centre setting, Ability to multi task and work effectively in a demanding environment, Excellent interpersonal skills, including patients, flexibility, diplomacy, cross cultural communication, willingness to listen, and respecting colleagues, Demonstrate ability to work both collaboratively and independently, clear written and spoken English and Chichewa, Willingness to engage in frequent travel (90% of his/her time) in the 2 districts, Ability to ride a motorcycle, Computer skills (knowledge of MS Word, Power point and Excel))
 
Good knowledge of the Malawi Health sector will be an added advantage, Additional training in immunization and family planning preferred
