INTERNAL AFFAIRS OFFICER - INVESTIGATIONS

Qualifications and Duties;


Responsible for generating corruption and fraud intelligence and implementing investigations programmes.
Functions / Key results expected
• Collect intelligence information on suspected corrupt practices and fraud.
•Receive and document allegations of corruption and fraud by employees.
•Investigate cases of corruption and fraud.
•Investigate wealth acquired by employees which is not commensurate with employment earnings and declared business interests.
•Maintenance of up to date database of all investigation cases and other pertinent information in respect of investigation work.
•Prepare cases for prosecution in liaison with law enforcing agencies to deter corrupt and fraud practices.
•Attend court sessions to present evidence when required.
•Prepare monthly reports on work progress for monitoring in order to accomplish annual work plans.
•Prepare Quarterly Activities Report containing the status of allegations, preliminary reviews and assignment progress.
•Prepare Annual Reports of the Division under the supervision of the Fraud Investigation Manager.
•Conduct pro-active reviews aimed at detecting and preventing fraud or corruption in the Authority.
•Monitor the implementation of investigations recommendations to prevent re-occurrence of such irregularities and safeguard the assets and image of the Authority.
•Any other duties assigned by seniors from time to time.

Education and Experience
•Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
•A professional qualification in Fraud Examination would be an added advantage
•At least 3 years of substantial professional experience in investigative work, preferably investigation relating to fraud and corruption in public or private sector.

•Strong ability to communicate, write, present and clearly defend findings and recommendations of investigations
•Strong organisational and analytical ability, attention to detail and ability to work independently and manage challenges
•Integrity and strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide team leadership and to develop trust and demonstrate fairness
•Strong interviewing skills, capacity to influence and win the confidence of difficult witnesses
•Knowledge of criminal, civil and administrative law.
