Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Malawian candidates to fill the vacancy of Treasury Officer based at its office in Blantyre.
MTL has a national and international fibre optic backbone and is the leading provider of Voice and Data services in the country, serving both Corporate and Individual customers on the market.
Reporting to the Treasury Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the processing of all receipts from all its Service Centres and other agents such as collecting financial institution and payments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:-
- Ensures that all daily cash returns are received from Service Centres.
- Ensures proper Returns are received from any agent appointed by MTL to receive money on its behalf
- Ensures all receipts are properly accounted for and recorded in cashbook
- Prepares daily cash collection report
- Prepares and submits for review monthly cash and Bank Reconciliation
- Ensures all payments are made in accordance with company’s standing regulations.
- Investigate and resolve timely reconciling items on cash and bank reconciliation
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and attributes:
- Degree in Accounting or its equivalent. Those studying for professional qualification will have an added advantage.
- 2 years working experience in accounting.
- Proficiency in computerised Accounting
- Be honest
- Be detail and result oriented
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to network and coordinate with different departments within MTL
- Be prepared to work odd hours to meet strict deadlines.
