Position Summary
IREX seeks a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to provide expertise for an anticipated USAID-funded civil society strengthening project in Malawi. The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will develop and implement a Performance Management Plan for the program as well as identify and communicate program successes and lessons learned.
The position is contingent on funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a monitoring and evaluation system across all program components, including review of indicators and development of monitoring activities that capture necessary data to report on results
  • Communicate information obtained through M&E activities to IREX staff, donors and external stakeholders
  • Serve as primary M&E resource for the program team; liaise regularly with IREX's headquarters Monitoring and Evaluation team
  • Ensure effective data collection, including regularly reviewing processes, performing data quality assessments, and making adjustments as needed
  • Conduct regular visits to project sites to provide technical assistance and ensure proper monitoring of project activities
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports as needed as well as documenting project successes and lessons learned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing M&E activities for international development projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of M&E environment, including challenges and resources, in Malawi preferred
  • Experience with major evaluation methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies
  • Experience in building the M&E capacity of partner organizations
  • Experience in planning and managing surveys preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to present findings in a range of formats for different audiences
  • Professional proficiency in English is required
