Regional Planning Manager

Reporting to the Regional Financial Director, the main purpose of the job is to lead the strategic planning and forecasting process for the region including analyzing new growth opportunities, reviewing existing projects and investments and developing performance reporting processes to measure results, inform managers, expand operations, increase business, grow the company, improve efficiencies and encourage continuing improvements to maximize shareholder value. Key Result Areas: • Strategic Planning for Business Operations • Business Performance Analysis for industry, market sector and competitors • Implementation of new Business Development, efficiency and productivity projects • Tobacco Market Analysis and Customer Support, and • Management Information Systems Qualifications and Experience: • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or • MBA in Business Planning and Analysis • 5 - 7 years post qualification experience in business planning and analysis in a large commercial organization. • Accounting qualification such as ACCA would be advantageous Skills and Competencies: • Analytical skills – the applicant must be able to: o identify key business drivers and assess their likely outcomes; o identify strategic and operational investment opportunities; o evaluate new and existing capital investments and propose improvements and efficiency; o analyse markets for efficiency, sustainability and profitability; o manage the performance reporting process. • Communication skills – the successful applicant must communicate clearly in English • Software skills – the successful applicant must be proficient in MS Word and Excel and knowledge of analytical tools such as QlickView is a plus. • Additional skills – must be able to effectively: o work with people from various cultures and backgrounds, o work independently and in a team when required o work simultaneously on more than one project/assignment, o organize work to schedule and deadlines • The successful applicant should be willing and able to travel in Africa. The position will be based in Lilongwe, Malawi. This is a senior financial position and a commensurate remuneration and benefits package will be offered.
