SNV seeks to fill various senior positions in its Agriculture Sector:
SNV is an international not-for-profit development organisation, funded from public and private sources, working in 38 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
With our specialist expertise in Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, we contribute to solving some of the development problems facing the world today. Agriculture is the bulk of SNV’s work globally and the focus is on three (3) key themes; Sustainable Markets, Food Security and Climate Smart Agriculture.
In order to harness our performance as a global player in the Agriculture sector, we are looking to strengthen our teams with specialist knowledge and experience in three key themes, seven top commodities and in project management.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals with a proven track record and strong expertise, preferably gained from field experience in Africa, Asia, Latin America, in one or more of the following areas:
Key themes:
1) Climate Smart Agriculture (Low GHG Production Systems and Resilience to CC in Agriculture)
2) Sustainable Markets (Value Chain Development and Inclusive Business)
3) Food Security (Household Nutritional Security and Sustainable Food Production)
Top commodities:
Cassava, Rice, Horticulture, Diary, Livestock, Coffee and Cocoa
Other key requirements:
- Master’s Degree or higher degree in a relevant discipline e.g. agriculture, agricultural economics, agribusiness, agricultural engineering, international trade, marketing etc.;
- At least eight to ten(8 -10) years or more of progressively responsible work experience in implementing multi-faceted agricultural development projects in Africa, Asia or Latin America;
- Proven experience in business development;
- Extensive experience in one or more of SNV’s top commodity value chains;
- Visionary and able to strategically inspire and energise project teams;
- Excellent social and networking skills, ability to engage with governments, the private sector and civil society;
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and experience working in a matrix organisation;
- Entrepreneurial, result-oriented and driver for change;
- International work experience, preferably in a country of SNV operation;
- Willingness and ability to live and work in an SNV country programme for up to two years.
Languages: Proficient in English. Fluency or working knowledge of French and Spanish is an advantage.
