ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Founded in 1994, ALTERFIN is a cooperative society and stems from a collaboration between NGOs and banks. It grants loans to MFIs in Latin America, Africa, and Asia who in turn offer microloans to small local businesses and farmers. It also directly finances associations of small fair trade producers. Its objective is to help build a financial network that is accessible to groups of socially and economically disadvantaged people in developing countries who rarely have access to financial resources.
ABOUT THE JOB:
ALTERFIN is seeking a Credit Manager - Africa. S/he will be responsible for managing loans to specific partners (clients) in Africa through the portfolio management of organization and Fefisol, an investment fund established for providing loans, equity, and technical assistance to African MFIs and agriculture producer organizations (POs).
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the definition of the portfolio management strategy for the region;
- Identify potential investments in line with organization's and Fefisol's’s vision and investment policies;
- Carry out the institutional and social due diligences of the identified MFIs and POs;
- Present the investment proposals and follow loan disbursement process;
- Develop technical assistance projects proposals to support Fefisol's partners;
- Monitor both the new investments generated and other investments already in Fefisol and organization's portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Degree in higher education in Finance, Economics, Business Management or other relevant field;
- About 3-6 years of relevant experience;
- Expertise in financial/organizational/strategic analysis of small to medium enterprises and, if possible, of MFIs and POs;
- Field experience in a country in the South, particularly in Africa will be of added value;
- Good spoken and written English and French;
- Understanding of development issues and social responsibility.
