Clinical Pediatric Advisor

The Clinical Pediatric Advisor will support the implementation of high quality pediatrics services in Provincial Hospital in Xai Xai and Health Center Xai Xai in Gaza Province with an emphasis on pediatric HIV and MCH in general. This includes the Technical support and specifically the training of health personnel and clinical mentoring.
Job Responsibilities
  • Support Gaza team ( MOH/EGPAF) to establish pediatric clinical mentoring program:
  • in collaboration with district directorate in XX city organize pediatric services in HC XX in order to implement pediatric mentoring program (HR, physical space, patient flow);
  • in collaboration with a pediatrician / or responsible for pediatric ward in Provincial hospital in XX organize training schedule for mentoring participants in a pediatric hospital;
  • In collaboration with TA for pediatrics (EGPAF) and provincial HIV responsible organize the agenda for the participants and follow-up of the participants in their work place according to the district needs and their regular performance evaluation;
  • Ensure availability of material required to implement mentoring (stethoscopes, otoscopes, pen drive, IEC material) through regular request at the provincial level;
  • Support pediatric consultation at HC Xai Xai and support the Clinical Staff of the HF in the management and follow-up of pediatric cases including follow up of exposed children and HIV infected children, with special attention to provision of HIV service, treatment and prophylaxis of opportunistic infections, early infant diagnosis , linkages HIV-MCH and TB-HIV;
  • Implement the clinical mentoring program for health personnel in Gaza province, with the aim of developing the clinical capacity to provide high quality pediatric services through:
  • Clinical mentoring in integrated consultations, pediatric ward, theoretic lessons at the center of "training" in duration of 10 working days for a participant;
  • A monitoring and evaluation of skills in the place of his/her work;
  • Submit the monthly report TA pediatrics and clinical coordinator in Gaza on technical assistance provided in the HC XX and detailed assessment (pre-posttest, evaluation competence) of health staff who attended the training;
  • Contribute to the coordination of routine activities and clinical meetings at the HC Xai Xai and provide technical expertise, information on development and new advances in Pediatric Care and Treatment. Support the review of clinical cases and case studies, and discuss data and progression of the program;
  • Support the provincial tutors in the implementation of pediatric mentoring program (as master tutor) and coordinate the program with DPS, ITECH and other partners involved in the province;
  • Participate in and contribute to technical meetings of EGPAF Gaza;
  • Do regular update (quarterly) of tutoring material according to the norms of MOH;
Required Qualifications
  • Pediatrician with at least 5 years of experience in HIV / AIDS programs and pediatrics
  • Master in public health or equivalent degree will be an advantage
Essential Skills
  • Extensive clinical experience and comprehensive knowledge of pediatric care and treatment, PMTCT, nutrition and childhood TB
  • Experience in training, mentoring and clinical supervision;
  • Excellent understanding of current literature and clinical issues in the pediatric HIV / AIDS (and adult), PMTCT, nutrition and childhood TB
  • Skills and Knowledge in the use of evaluation and quality assurance tools;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Portuguese and English
  • Energetic, independent, self-motivated. Interpersonal skills and adaptation in multicultural environments.
  • Good knowledge in Microsoft Office application (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
