PSI Malawi is searching for a Director of Marketing to take us to the next level in marketing and create even greater health impact. In this role you will be responsible for all social marketing programs and for overseeing the design, planning, conducting and analysis of all research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise all activities of social marketing (sales and distribution) and Research
- Drive marketing strategy and decisions across the 5Ps (Positioning, Product, Price, Place, Promo) for all PSI Malawi products and Tunza social franchise clinics
- Instill advanced FMCG and Ethical Products and Services marketing discipline for increased impact
- Lead an in-depth market analysis on the family planning category to determine how to grow category and impact through a total market approach.
- Use best-in-class social marketing approaches to broaden and deepen the portfolio of health products we offer and meet the needs of our consumer better.
- Work in partnership with Social Franchise Manager to oversee the fast expansion of the social franchising brand, Tunza, in Malawi, including growing brand relevance and affinity with providers and consumers.
- Strengthen marketing planning through instilling discipline to all programs.
- Create innovative methods to test-market and scale products and services through better consumer understanding.
- Increase the degree of our data-driven decision making resulting in better consumer and market insight, as well as enhanced use of routine monitoring data.
- Ensure research, sales and social marketing annual work plans are designed and operating accordingly.
- Designing and ensuring implementation and maintenance of research, sales and social marketing policies and procedures.
- Analyzing expected departmental deliverables into activities and tasks, framing the tasks into job descriptions and individual objectives for subordinates.
- Reviewing subordinates MBOs and ensuring proper and timely planning for performance reviews according to schedule.
- Produce accurate and timely reports in accordance with specific PSI Malawi or donor requirements.
- Communicate with and answer queries raised by Senior Management and donors concerning research, sales and social marketing.
- Assessing long term departmental human resources capacity needs and employing measures to meet them.
- Any other job as may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters’ degree in related field or Bachelors degree with at least 8 years working experience in Research and Marketing field.

- Extensive experience in Marketing and research.
- working with cooperating partners, health public sector, NGO’s and private sector
- Understanding of Social-economic fabric of Malawi or experience working in similar countries with on the same scale of development.
- Good grasp of the cause and impact of HIV/AIDS, current issues pertaining to Malaria and Child Survival, Reproductive Health and other Social Health issues.
- Prior staff management experience required
- Good experience in working with different teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good facilitation & negotiation skills
- Be self-starter, effective team player and demonstrated results-oriented track record
