Position Description
IBTCI is seeking a Capacity Building Specialist to serve under a long-term USAID/Malawi Early Grade Reading Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) project in Malawi. The position will be located dually in the United States and Malawi and is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities
The Capacity Building Specialist’s responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
  • Organizing and managing training and mentoring activities for USAID Mission Staff and implementing partners;
  • Developing systems, capacity, and ownership of local partners and the timely achievement of related indicators, performance criteria, and benchmarks through customized training activities;
  • Meeting regularly with USAID to support program implementation, team building and early identification of problems or issues;
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of all capacity building-related project activities, including supporting other team members on tasks as needed;
  • Working closely with project staff to coach USAID Mission Staff and implementing partners in gathering, analyzing, and assessing data and information to measure program performance and impact.
Requirements
  • Education; Master's or higher university degree in relevant subject areas including organizational development, international development, public administration, business administration, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in designing and implementing capacity building projects, preferably in Malawi or Sub Saharan Africa;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Capacity Building/Knowledge Management systems, training materials, and events management;
  • Previous experience in training and capacity building for USAID Missions, preferably in Malawi or Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Excellent facilitation and team management skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and outstanding interpersonal skills;
  • Must have excellent written and oral English skills;
  • Experience in Malawi and/or Sub-Saharan Africa is desired.
