Position Description
IBTCI is seeking a local Capacity Building Specialist to serve under a long-term USAID/Malawi Early Grade Reading Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) project in Malawi. This position will be based out of Lilongwe, Malawi and is contingent upon award. Local Malawian candidates that meet position requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Organizing and managing training and mentoring activities for USAID Mission Staff and implementing partners;
  • Developing systems, capacity, and ownership of local partners and the timely achievement of related indicators, performance criteria, and benchmarks through customized training activities;
  • Meeting regularly with USAID to support program implementation, team building, and early identification of problems or issues;
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of all capacity building-related project activities, including supporting other team members on tasks as needed;
  • Working closely with project staff to coach USAID Mission Staff and implementing partners in gathering, analyzing, and assessing data and information to measure program performance and impact.
Requirements
  • Education; Masters or higher university degree in relevant subject areas including Organizational Development, International Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field are highly desirable;
  • Experience in designing and implementing capacity building projects, preferably in Malawi or Sub Saharan Africa;
  • Proven experience implementing capacity building activities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of development Building/Knowledge Management systems, training materials and events management;
  • Proven experience in training and capacity building for USAID Missions in Malawi;
  • Excellent facilitation and team management skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills;
  • Must be professionally proficient and fluent in written and spoken English and Chichewa.
