Drivers (Salima, Balaka, Mangochi and Lilongwe)
The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Malawi (BCM-CFM) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi government in the health sector. Our mission is to improve the health and lives of HIV-infected children and families through high quality, high impact, ethical, state of the art comprehensive care and treatment, training of health professionals and clinical research. Through its outreach arm, the Tingathe Program, BCM-CFM assists the Ministry of Health (MOH) in improving Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), Early Infant Diagnosis (EID), and Paediatric HIV care and treatment services in Malawi. The Tingathe Outreach project is embarking upon a new program under EQUIP Right to Care, and is working in four districts in Central and Southeastern Malawi: Salima, Lilongwe, Balaka, and Mangochi.
The programme invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill open positions for Drivers in Salima, Balaka, Mangochi and Lilongwe.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving the BCM-CFM vehicles as directed including driving mentors on mentorship trips
- Updating log books and fuel consumption records
- Perform security inspection of vehicles
- Report to responsible officers on challenges encountered by car truck devices •
- Ensure the vehicle is safe at all times from; theft, fire, accidents, packing violations, vandalism
- Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangement of major repairs, timely change of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
- Ensure availability of all the required documents including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
- Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
- Ability to communicate well in English, both verbal and written
- A holder of a full MSCE with valid driver’s license. (Class C1, category PG, defensive is a plus)
- Five years’ work experience with NGOs is a plus.
- A person of high integrity, mature and team player with sober mind.
- Honest and trustworthy
- Must be willing to work in any of the districts the program is operating.
