In Malawi it’s easy for people to fall through the cracks, even with the large presence of charities and NGOs, whether through geography, income or gender there are groups of people whose lives are bitterly impoverished and little is done to support them. Our partner’s speciality is giving support to those who can find it nowhere else, now they need your help.
This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who wants more experience in the international development sector, or for someone who wishes to make a difference in poverty reduction. Our partner works at a local level to help women develop the skills and expertise they need to be able to raise themselves out of poverty. This is your chance to make a real difference as our partner’s techniques produce tangible, visible differences in the wellbeing of their beneficiaries. With numerous volunteers working across several fields, the need for strong project management is crucial to the success of this programme.
Having recently upgraded their accounting systems, it would be up to you and your financial know-how to ensure that the data is transmitted accurately and efficiently. The volunteer will work with the Head Office data capture team, finance team and branch managers to reconcile and clean-up / sanitise the data in the current system on a branch by branch basis prior to moving the data across to the new system.
You will be required to review their current system and analyse the best way in which to transfer the data across, which you will then take the lead on afterwards. Your expertise would prove invaluable to our partner and they would like you to tighten up and refine their existing processes and financial controls making any changes that you deem necessary.
Our partner is looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience working in a finance environment with strong project management or planning skills. Also the ability to work with a potentially lead a team would be greatly appreciated, plus a sense of humour is vital!
So if you’re in the spirit for an adventure then please get in touch, your efforts here could help reduce poverty across Malawi and bring some much needed support to our partner organisation.
Our partner would also consider 2 people to fill this role, so if a colleague or a friend would like to join you for a 2 month adventure, then please don’t hesitate to forward this on to them.
If you think you’re up to the challenge and want to try something exciting and new, don’t hesitate to get in touch - send your CV to volunteers@afid.org.uk or call +44(0)208 741 7000.
