Chemonics seeks a chief of party for an anticipated multiyear, USAID-funded Feed the Future agriculture project in Mozambique. The project aims to promote market-oriented, competitive businesses in priority food and cash crop sectors and strengthen the policy environment for private sector development and trade. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction
- Serve as key liaison with USAID, the government of Mozambique, stakeholders, and counterparts in the public and private sectors
- Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
- Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
- Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
- Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in agriculture, economics, or related field required
- Minimum 15 years of senior-level experience designing, implementing, and managing large (more than $50 million) agricultural development and nutrition-related interventions; USAID or other donor-funded project experience preferred
- Proven track record in building capacity of local private sector and improving government policy on agricultural development
- Experience as chief of party on a donor-funded project in Mozambique or elsewhere in Africa preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in English required; Portuguese proficiency preferred
