Job purpose and key deliverablesJob Purpose
To manage and utilise resources in order to produce high quality products at the lowest cost in time in the Manufacturing Department.

Key Deliverables

  • Ensure production target is achieved according to product and standards specifications to satisfy consumer requirements. 
  • Ensure that production administration and quality procedures are followed according to prescribed standards. 
  • Manage waste within agreed standards to constantly minimise production cost. 
  • Ensure compliance with BAT, EH&S and local standards to minimise risk. 
  • Execute daily and weekly maintenance according to BAT prescribed policies and procedures to optimise machine performance. 
  • Attend to daily machine breakdowns according to BAT prescribed policies and procedures to optimise machine performance. 
  • Execute stock taking as prescribed to ensure accurate figures for production planning. 
  • Execute material tests in order to ensure that standards are met. 
  • Follow Quality / operational Procedures and adhere to Quality & Housekeeping Standards 
  • Participate in ISO and PI&T Audits for their area
Essential requirementsKnowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Matric/Grade 12 
  • Qualified Fitter & Turner. Millwright qualification would be an advantage 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast moving consumer goods environment, preferably related industry 
  • Must have completed relevant training on the maintenance of manufacturing machines 
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and systems 
  • Knowledge and understanding of improvement principles and practices 
  • Knowledge and understanding of fault finding 
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality systems and principles 
  • Knowledge and understanding of measuring instruments 
  • Knowledge and understanding of tools and equipment 
  • Knowledge and understanding of maintenance and parts requirements 
  • Knowledge and understanding of EH&S practices and principles 
  • Trouble Shooting and Problem solving Skills 
  • Good communication and interpersonal Skills 
  • Good decision Making Skills 
  • Good judgemental Skills
