Operations Manager Malawi

Mary’s Meals is a fast-growing international charity, currently providing over 923,500 hungry and impoverished children in five continents with a daily school meal.
We are looking for an Operations Manager for a two year fixed term contract to work in Mary’s Meals Malawi’s school feeding programme, which is currently reaching over 700,000 children with a daily meal in primary school as well as 6,500 orphans and vulnerable children. Mary’s Meals Malawi is part of the global Mary’s Meals movement and is focused on achieving the goal that every child receives a daily meal in their place of education.
Reporting to the Regional Director to support the strategic planning and organisational development in Malawi and involved in setting and managing agreed budgets for the operations team. A hands-on and participative manager, coach and mentor who will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: Logistics, warehousing, security, procurement, transport, property management, human resources, ITC, engineering and administration.
You will have previous experience of leading a team, have excellent communication and people skills, and be flexible and capable of working with a multinational country team. You will need to have analytical and conceptual skills to plan project budgets and be able to exercise initiative and sound judgment to successfully accomplish the requirements of this role.
You will have a strong track record of working at a senior level within an international development organisation, preferably in Africa – and can demonstrate significant experience of leading and managing an operations function. You will have excellent leadership, people and motivational skills. Operational excellence is essential as is cultural sensitivity and community engagement skills and experience.
We are looking for a highly resilient person who is able to work independently, with excellent communication, organisation, prioritisation and time management skills.
A BA/BSC in a relevant subject (e.g. Logistics, supply chain management, business administration or any other relevant disciplines) or demonstrable significant experience in a similar role is essential.
If you believe you have the relevant experience and skills to make a difference to the lives of thousands of children across the world, we’d love to hear from you.
By contributing to the work of Mary’s Meals, you will become part of a worldwide movement of people who will not accept that any child in this world of plenty should endure a day without a meal.
