ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Women’s World Banking (WWB) is an international network of MFIs in several countries working to bring financial services and information to low-income entrepreneurs. Its mission is to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of poor women as entrepreneurs and economic agents by opening their access to finance, knowledge and markets. It seeks to alleviate global poverty by expanding the economic assets, participation, and power of the poor, especially women.
ABOUT THE JOB:
WWB is seeking a Consultant - Local Market Research Firm. The objective of the program is to provide technical assistance to a bank in Malawi to increase access to sustainable savings products to low-income Malawians, in particular women and clients living in rural areas. The organization will lead a qualitative research engagement with customers of the bank to conduct a pilot assessment of this savings program. The consultant will recruit research participants using customer contact lists provided by organization. The participants in the research will be clients of the partner bank and will be segmented based on criteria such as gender, account use and geography.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Participant recruitment:
- Contact potential participants from a list of clients provided by organization to request participation and confirm match with necessary criteria. If they accept, inform participant of date and time of the event individual is recruited for;
- Confirm the date and time with each participant one or two days before individual's scheduled day of participation as well as re-confirm the recruited participant matches the criteria;
- Recruit a maximum of 56 participants to participate in focus groups.
- Venues:
- Identify and secure research venues for sessions. Organization typically uses space in local hotels or similar businesses and do not require a two-way mirror or video recording. The venues will be in 1-2 separate geographic areas, each within two hours’ drive from Blantyre.
- Transportation:
- Provide transportation to and from research venue for participants or, where applicable reimburse participants for their transportation
- Refreshments:
- Arrange for light refreshments (snack and drink) and financial compensation, travel reimbursement (if transportation is not provided) and slight incentive (if applicable to cultural context) for all participants.
- Interpretation:
- Identify and hire one or two interpreters for Chichewa - English - Chichewa translation to participate in all research sessions.
