The Department of Energy and Climate Change is responsible for ensuring the UK has secure, affordable energy and for the UK’s role in domestic and international efforts to avoid dangerous climate change. The Department supports the Secretary of State and the Ministerial team to deliver the Government’s energy and climate change policies.  The Department has three priorities:

Working with a Principal Research Officer to support DECC's Customer Insight Programme, this role will include:
  • Commissioning and managing a range of qualitative and quantitative research supporting policy development and evaluation, working with policy colleagues and other analysts to ensure evidence needs are met
  • Ensuring that research and evaluation products have maximum impact, and meet the needs of different audiences
  • Engaging with other policy programmes and related evaluation plans across DECC to ensure synergies are being exploited and findings will be complementary and lead to a broader understanding of the impact of DECC policies
  • Engaging with the wider research community, developing links to source evidence from research conducted by industry and academia, ensuring that useful findings are brought into the programme, and influencing where appropriate
