The position will be based in Johannesburg and the successful candidate must be available to start February 2014.

Action Aid South Africa is looking for a partnership development manager who will develop and maintain a funding mix that is stable, diversified, pro poor and flexible enough to meet the funding needs of the South Africa programme.
The position will be based in Johannesburg and the successful candidate must be available to start February 2014.
Main KPA’s may include:
·         Develop and maintain a funding mix that is stable, diversified, pro poor and flexible enough to meet the funding needs of the South Africa programme.
·         Start up and phase-out management; planning funding requirements (integration of sponsorship and non-sponsorship funding); planning communications to funding affiliates and supporters; ensuring that sponsorship requirements can be met.
·         Compile plans and budgets.
·         Plan annual sponsorship activities.
·         Ensure effective liaison with funding affiliates.
·         Plan and coordinate appropriate training.
·         Ensure effective donor accountability.
Key requirements:
·         Applicants must be in possession of a graduate level qualification in social sciences, or a related subject. 
·         At least five years’ experience in Programme Management including demonstrated experience in fundraising from official donors, foundations and trusts.
·         Appropriate management experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work with and relate to staff and partners at varying levels.
·         Experience at community development level and use of participatory methodologies.
·         Key competencies will include: negotiating; influencing; persuasiveness; impact; leadership; coaching; gender awareness;  problem analysis; planning and organization; results orientation; learning and self-development.
·         Experience/Knowledge of fundraising in the civil society / international NGO environment would be an advantage.
·         Driver’s license and own vehicle is essential.
