The overall aim of the Sustainable Procurement Practice Group is to ensure sustainability in allactivities, including in partnerships, provide speedy and quality advice andservices by leveraging on existing global knowledge, building and sharing knowledge further, and by increasing revenue through focus on commodities, economies of scale, and taking advantage of automation solutions to reach out to partners.
UNOPS Procurement Operations Unit has the responsibility to lead the strategic approach for all procurement and supply chain activities to ensure the goal of sustainability and to achieve process simplification and best value, leveraging volumes and shaping markets through proper planning, the establishment of commodity teams, a focus on results across the global organization. Further, the Procurement Operations Unit has the responsibility to support business development with special attention to optimizing business support through electronic catalogues and will ensure the procurement function across UNOPS is conducted with a transparent, consistent and efficient process from end to end underpinning it with the systems, analytics, agreements and expertise to facilitate best in class provision of services both within and outside the organization. Collaboration and outreach across UNOPS delivery practices and operational centres will be critical to success.
The purpose of UNOPS Procurement Systems and Analytics Team is to enable best practice procurement processes through the design, implementation and management of procurement related solutions, systems and tools. The team is also tasked with providing accurate and comprehensive collection, measurement and monitoring of all relevant procurement supply chain and contracts data for use within UNOPS operations for planning and strategy, for its partners and for the UN Annual Statistical Report. The analytics team will support the procurement functions through research and data collection as necessary. The team will also have responsibility for deploying its knowledge and capabilities to serve our client community.
UNOPS is looking for an intern to support the Procurement Systems and Analytics team in the areas of analysis, communication and stakeholder management. The intern will report to the Team Manager, Procurement Systems and Analytics. The intern will work in close collaboration with various stakeholders of the Sustainable Procurement Practice Group and other business units of UNOPS.
The intern will be assigned a peer at UNOPS who will be responsible for the successful induction of the intern at UNOPS. The SPPG team rotation policy applies, i.e. the intern may have the possibility to take stages in different teams at SPPG, depending on his or her skillset and the duration of the internship. Functional ResponsibilitiesUNOPS is looking for an intern to assume duties related to the cooperate e-Procurement work programme (e-Procurement project) and also the Procurment Analytics work programme: Support the UNOPS Procurement Operations Unit, and in particular, the Procurement Systems and Analytics team with regard to analysis, communication and stakeholder management aimed at engaging relevant stakeholders inside and outside UNOPS in actively participating in the ongoing work programmes. The intern shall also support the unit and team with administrative support activities.
  • Participate in the e-Procurement workstreamto facilitate implementation and roll-out of an e-Procurement system
  • Participate in the procurement analytics workstream to identify areas needing statistical data etc. for procurement decision support
  • Design and facilitate key stakeholder communications, including:
  • Newsletters and other stakeholder messaging
  • Providing content to SPPG intrenet
  • producing webcasts
  • Continueously improve and actively roll out the programmes communications plan
  • Assess stakeholder interest and requirements
  • Collect and prioritize findings; translate stakeholder expectations into performance targets etc.
  • Ascertain stakeholder buy-in as well as provide adequate project reports to senior management
  • Develop information materials etc. to ensure stakeholder acceptance and satisfaction
  • Involved in related activities for the UNOPS Procurement Operations Unit
  • Support the unit with administrative dutie Perform other related duties as required.Specific deliverables will be agreed upon based on the qualifications and skills of selected candidate together with the Team Manager, Procurement Systems and Analytics.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education: Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required. To be eligible for an internship with UNOPS the candidate must be studying towards a university degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Communication or related field
Experience: No prior work experience is required, but work experience in design and execution of stakeholder communication and procurement and supply chain processes, preferably in public sector procurement, will be considered an asset Experience in preparing reports and presentations etc. to senior management, will be considered an asset;
Language: Fluency in English is required
