ActionAid South Africa seeks to appoint an exceptional fundraising leader who is able to raise local profile and start up initiatives for high value fundraising and future programs.The position will be based in Johannesburg and the successful candidate must be available to start February 2014.
Main KPA’s may include:
·         Setting up, managing, and growing a comprehensive and sustainable fundraising program to maximize net income generation and increase the base of national supporters.
·         Researching, developing and managing fundraising approaches with the aim of strengthening the base of regular supporters and raise the profile of ActionAid.
·         Providing leadership and support to a team of fundraising and communications staff delivering the program.
·         Supervising daily operations in Donors Recruitment, Retention and Development.
·         Implementing and developing the High Value fundraising program.
Key requirements:
·         Applicants must be in possession of a post graduate level qualification in marketing or a related subject. 
·         At least four years proven experience in marketing, communications or fundraising.
·         Minimal two years’ experience in managing and motivating a team.
·         An understanding of development and poverty issues and approaches.
·         Fluent in written and spoken English to a technical level.
·         Experience in working with customer or supporter/donor databases.
·         Ability to demonstrate understanding of customer service and loyalty to enable the development of a sustainable income base for the organization.
·         Proven financial management and analytical skills including experience in planning and managing budgets.
·         Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to sell ideas and negotiate.
·         Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize workloads.
·         Leadership and motivation skills.
·         Experience in managing external agencies such as marketing agencies.
·         An innovative and creative thinker, able to plan and implement new ideas.
·         Experience in developing online marketing or fundraising programmes.
·         Experience/Knowledge of fundraising in the civil society / international NGO environment would be an advantage.
·         Driver’s license and own vehicle is essential.
