Job Title: PAU ICT AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Grade: P2

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
2. Major duties and responsibilities:
Information Technology
  • Manage the PAU Web Portal and update information such as news, event information, vacancy announcement and electronic library management.
  • Support the training of web administrators in PAU Institutes, and ensure compatibility of systems
  • Support the design and management of a common web platform that serves all institutions and common functions of the PAU
  • Improve in design and programming, all the modules of the portal
  • Design and produce an Online Admissions Management System – Ported to the main PAU portal
  • Design and produce and manage an Online Students Management System
  • Coordinate the management of PAU documentation and electronic file management using drop box.
  • Coordinate printing all PAU project documents, pamphlets, banners and other documents relevant to the PAU.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Communications
  • Assist in drafting a communication strategy and a branding policy for the PAU and suggest ways and means to achieve greater awareness of the PAU brand.
  • Carry out public relations duties and execute public awareness campaigns
  • Monitor PAU coverage online, on the internet and in print publications
  • Suggest promotional materials and contribute to the planning and production of such materials
  • Contribute news and other information articles to PAU publications
  • Write news releases, media advisories and other information for use by journalists and the PAU/AUC webmaster.
  • Manage the translation of relevant PAU documents into the African Union languages as necessary
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
3. QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A University Bachelor Degree or equivalent in computer science, communication or marketing is requirement.
  • Professional ICT certification would be an added advantage
  • At least three years' experience working in a national, regional or international organization in a relevant work domain Experience in and knowledge of the AU would be an added advantage
4. OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS:
  • Expertise in Object Oriented Programming using Java
  • Good knowledge of J2EE Technology, Report Mill (Java Report Tool), Java Swing Framework, Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Fireworks
  • Experience in media and/or marketing
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in an international diverse environment
  • Experience in organizing and coordinating events
  • Experience in using emerging and social media
5. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Knowledge of one or several other working languages would be an added advantage.
6. TENURE OF APPOINTMENT: The contract is tenable for 6 Months
7. REMUNERATION: The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$ 72,033.93 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 60,430.34 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff
