The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a leading global charity for research, teaching and information on international development, based in Brighton.

IDS Knowledge Services are one of the IDS teams engaged in launching and delivering a range of projects to support a strategy aimed at promoting effective use of knowledge for development. 

We require an experienced and highly motivated individual to join the IDS KS team as a Nutrition Convenor, coordinating and contributing to a range of projects and programmes documenting and communicating research evidence on nutrition-related issues to key audiences across the world and in particular in developing countries.

The role will involve working with partners to communicate research on nutrition-related issues to an international audience of policy makers and development professionals; developing partnerships and contributing to networks in order to increase the sharing and effective use of research knowledge; mapping existing knowledge systems and stakeholder needs; and working with partners to write, edit and produce a range of outputs and profiling innovative work.

This post will see the individual working across a portfolio of projects and programmes, including a programme funded by Irish Aid on hunger reduction and climate change adaptation; a consortium of organisations providing responsive nutrition-related research and knowledge service to DFID and its partners; delivering the evidence dissemination and uptake components of a DFID-funded operational research and impact evaluation project in Nigeria with international and national partners; and working with research colleagues and local partners to strengthen the uptake and adoption of a data-based tool to build the commitment of actors to address under nutrition.
The candidate will need a broad knowledge of relevant development research, with preferably an appreciation of the key issues in addressing under-nutrition in developing countries. S/he will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management experience, and experience of working with partners to build capacity and meet shared goals. This position will be based at the IDS offices in Brighton.

Candidates require a Masters degree or equivalent relevant qualification, or equivalent experience in international development with special competencies in nutrition. 

This post also requires excellent project management and organisational skills, written and verbal communications skills and excellent negotiating and planning. 

Salary range: Grade 6 (£23,823 - £35,583) per annum
