Overview/Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Associate Director, Technical - Nutrition in Maputo, Mozambique.
Additional Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Technical - Nutrition will ensure that project activities reflect proven, evidence-based approaches and the latest technical innovations in the area of nutrition and that they respond directly to local priorities and USAID direction. He/She will ensure that activities use state-of-the-art approaches, methods, and tools, and that nutrition program elements and approaches are well integrated with the overarching strategy.
- Leads the operational and tactical activities for SAFRA project in Mozambique.
- Oversees the strategic direction, budgetary planning, and technical process of department to ensure project objectives are met.
- Ensure that the project incorporates state-of-the-art nutrition related research and programming into technical strategies, program design, country implementation, and policies for global programs.
- Provide technical oversight of all protocols, guidelines, and other technical approaches of the project.
- Provide strategic and technical guidance and support for nutrition programming, including working closely with the project’s Technical Advisors to ensure synergy and integration.
- Adapt global and regional technical resources and tools as needed for the local country context.
- Provide technical mentorship to staff and partners to enhance their quality and effectiveness in implementing nutrition interventions and strategies for the project.
- Represent the project in technical meetings, conferences, and coordination platforms in the specific technical area.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and experience with the design, management and implementation of nutrition and food security projects in developing countries.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the socio-economic and political situation in Mozambique.
- Ability to organize systems to monitor project results.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
- Applied skills in designing and implementing programs with a strong focus on nutrition.
- Demonstrated capacity to liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders in other organizations.
- Demonstrated capacity to support and supervise staff.
- S/he must have strong writing and organizational skills for reporting on program and study results.
- Strong English and Portuguese skills required.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience required.
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent - Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
