Investment Director, Mozambique

IRD seeks an Agribusiness Investment Director for an anticipated USAID funded Feed the Future project. The specialist will provide technical and program oversight and direction in the areas of supporting investors and promoting agribusiness investments for the program.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Promote and facilitate new agribusiness capital investments, joint ventures and public-private partnerships;
  • Demonstrate the production and marketing potentials of selected agribusiness sectors;
  • Facilitate investors in accessing the appropriate government agencies for business licensing and approvals including land use issues;
  • Facilitate the contract of potential investors with the appropriate private sector lobbing groups for sector information and support;
  • Manage and build the capacity of a team of Project Officers.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in Southern Africa, international development programs in areas focused on private sector agribusiness investment US Government (USAID, DOS or USDA) funded programs.
  • Private sector orientation and demonstrated track record of investment facilitation, public-private partnership design and execution, and negotiation in emerging markets and/or developing countries.
  • Demonstrated creativity, willingness to innovate, think systemically and design catalytic activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating across ministries and public-private dialogue.
  • Experience in agribusiness
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Master's degree or its equivalent in related field.
  • Strong background in agribusiness in Southern Africa
