Internship, Facilities Management Branch
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP Facilities Management Branch of the Management Services Division. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Internship will be for an initial period of 3 to 6 months starting from October 2014.
Description
In the context of the Occupational Health and Safety policy, the Facilities Management branch intends to develop a set of guidelines for design and maintenance of office spaces and other types of premises, in order to ensure a standard level of quality and safety for staff throughout the different contexts in which they operate. The selected candidate will be assisting the Facilities Management Branch with the following key duties:
  • Undertake research into areas of interest to Occupational Health and Safety, e.g. by collecting and studying existing international/national standards and best practices;
  • Undertake surveys and/or risk assessment analysis and prepare reports on specific Occupational Health and Safety issues in Rome HQ;
  • Provide support remotely to surveys and studies on Occupational Health and Safety in the field;
  • Prepare reports on tasks and projects;
  • Assist in developing guidelines for WFP Occupational Health and Safety, with regard to the characteristics of built environment, under the supervision of the project manager;
  • Assist the project manager in other tasks related to Occupational Health and Safety standards or their application in WFP premises.
Essential Requirements
  • Currently enrolled or have recently graduated from a University in the field of Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental engineering;
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study;
  • Have attended courses in the last 12 months;
  • Knowledge of chemistry and water treatment technologies;
  • Basic knowledge of medical matters related to Occupational Health and Safety;
  • Proficiency in MsOffice (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English.
Terms and Conditions
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
