Field Assistant (Non established, Grade M) – Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and water Development,
 
Applicants must originate from the rural areas of the following districts Karonga, Mzimba, Nkhata Bay, Rumphi, Likoma, Kasungu, Dowa, Ntchisi, Mchinji, Dedza, Salima, Ntcheu, Machinga, Mangochi, Mwanza, neno, Zomba, Thyolo, Mulanje, Phalombe, Cikwawa and Nsanje
 
Successful candidates will be undergoing tailor made training in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management at LUANAR – Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Natural Resources College NRC Campus, leading to an award of a Diploma in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management, Possession of a Diploma in Agriculture from LUANAR will lead to an appointment as agricultural Extension Development Officer (AEDO) Grade K
 
Please note that that nature of the work demands that candidates MUST live and work in rural areas, during and after successful completion of the training, Candidates will therefore be recruited, and work I the district of recruitment
 
Location: Extension Planning Area (EPAs) in the mentioned districts
Responsible to Agricultural Extension Development Coordinator (AEDC)
Candidates should possess MSCE with credits in 4 subjects namely English, Mathematics, Biology and Physical Science
 
Organise and manage basic data for the section and relevant data sets as required by specialist, Build capacity of  local structures to support decentralised Agricultural Extension Service System (DAES), Sensitise, mobilise and organise farmers in farmer organisations such as group, clubs, associations, and cooperatives to undertake various agricultural activities, Promote agricultural extension approaches and methodologies to encourage inclusiveness in planning, implementation and monitoring of agricultural programmes, mount harmonised farm demonstrations and mobilise farmers to attend training sessions, Conduct follow up visit to farmers to provide technical backstopping on technologies being promoted, Organise and implement field days and local tours, Prepare and submit reports to AEDCs, Carry out other duties as assigned by the AEDICs from time to time
