Field Research Assistant Required to assist in research of Bats and Biodiversity in Liwonde National Park
Conservation Research Africa is a UK charity through the University of Bristol UK, which is working to conserve bats, biodiversity and carnivores in Malawi through two key projects: African Bat Conservation (www.africanbatconservation.org) and Carnivore Research Malawi (www.carnivoreresearchmalawi.org). We work in partnership with the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Malawi.
We have research camps in Liwonde National Park (LNP), Kasungu National Park (KNP), Nyika National Park (NNP) and Vwasa Marsh Wildlife Reserve (VMWR) where we conduct field research on bats, biodiversity and carnivores.
We are currently recruiting for a field based research assistant who will be responsible for assisting the senior research assistant and conducting all aspects of our field research trapping and surveying bats and biodiversity based in Liwonde National Park and around our field sites.
Applicants must be a Malawian national and MUST HAVE A DRIVING LICENSE, Diploma in environmental education/conservation/ecology/natural resources, Experience of field based research, a background in conservation/ecology work, excellent spoken and written communication skills in two official languages and English and the ability to work in remote environments at night, under pressure and to deadlines.
The position is full time, for one year (with potential to extend beyond one year) based in our remote field camp in Liwonde National Park with regular evening work required. Salary and benefits negotiable and according to relevant skills and experience.
