Introduction
ResultsinHealth (RiH) is an international advisory agency, specializing in public health and development. RiH offers high quality services to governments, non-governmental organizations, bilateral and international organizations, and financing agencies such as the Development Banks, the European Union, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM). RiH has a passion for development of effective health care to disadvantaged and poor populations. Its advisory work is based on scientific evidence, and a strong desire to develop innovative solutions to persistent public health problems, while recognising everyday realities in developing country contexts.
RiH is a rapidly growing organisation. Among RiH’s focus areas are Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
Currently we seek a dynamic and well qualified Programme Officer Innovative Interventions Maternal, Newborn and Child Health.
General responsibilities
The Programme Officer Innovative Interventions Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (the ‘Programme Officer’) will work with RiH leadership to achieve a significant expansion of RiH’s MNCH portfolio and to create new ways of addressing MNCH problems in the developing world. The Programme Officer will identify opportunities, and design and write winning proposals. Work will be in line with RiH’s priorities and vision, and in close collaboration with RiH’s existing MNCH team and other staff.
Specific responsibilities
The Programme Officer will have the following responsibilities:
- Translate RiH’s vision into new approaches to address persistent problems in MNCH (e.g. maternal mortality, newborn mortality, family planning, harmful obstetric practices, role of men in MNCH, teenage pregnancy, and others).
- Develop proposals to donor and financing agencies, by combining proven strategies with creative social business models, well-designed incentive systems, effective marketing strategies, and innovative financing mechanisms.
- Identify qualified partners and experts to implement programmes.
- Liaise with new financing mechanisms, including philanthropic initiatives.
- Expand RiH’s partner network (national and international companies, organisations and donors).

Requirements
This position requires an innovative thinker, who enjoys developing ‘different solutions’ and who can show that he/she has made them work. As a consequence, we require:
- A Masters' degree that connects with one or more of the responsibilities of this position (e.g. a Masters’ degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Business Administration, or comparable), matched with working experience related to the specific needs of this position.
- General working experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Intersection of business and international health
- Social entrepreneurship and community outreach
- Social innovation financed by philanthropic foundations or development donors
- Candidates with one or more of the following specific experiences will be considered as having an advantage:
- Broad experience in the development of winning project proposals to agencies active in international health
- Working experience with one or more international, bi- and multi-lateral agencies, or development banks
- Experience in working with or for a for-profit organization
- Excellent writing skills, with demonstrated experience in preparing winning proposals and accepted programme budgets.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish or Portuguese) is considered an asset.
We offer

- Salary range Euro 3,200 - 3,700 gross per month, depending on level of experience
Position within RiH
The Programme Officer will report to the Directors and work closely with RiH’s MNCH team and other technical experts.
