Salary: £31,331 per annum plus the London Allowance of £2,976 per annum.
Purpose and Main Duties
Birkbeck’s IT Services Department is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to undertake a project to consolidate Microsoft Windows domains in use within the College in order to update and simplify the Windows environment. The project will involve liaising with staff users to migrate their desktops from an NT4 domain running Windows XP to Windows Server 2008 domain incorporating profile, login script, group policy and associated changes.
Candidate Requirements
You will be joining the Systems Support Group and will be involved in the support, administration and development of the Windows Active Directory and domain infrastructure. You will need to have excellent knowledge of Windows NT4/2000/2003/2008 Server, Active Directory and Windows Networking (DHCP, WINS and DNS) and ideally will have 3 years' experience of working in a technical support capacity in a diverse organisation. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required as well as the ability to prioritise a busy workload.

The organisational structure of ITS consists of four support teams covering the following areas: IT Infrastructure (Systems & Networking), Web, Corporate Information Systems, User Support (Servicedesk and Learning Technology). There is close liaison between staff from the various teams.
