This position is located in the Committee, Policy and Legal Affairs Section (CPLA), UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna, Austria. Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) with specialization in a field relevant to international law is required. Specialization in a field relevant to space law and policy is desirable. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in law, preferably international law, including legal analysis, research and writing, is required. Several years of service in an intergovernmental organization preparing, drafting and concluding legal agreements with Governments is required. Experience in providing secretariat services to intergovernmental bodies is also required. Demonstrated experience in and preparing documentation for intergovernmental bodies and implementing the recommendations of such bodies is also required. Experience in planning, organizing and conducting capacity-building activities in the area of space law and policy is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
