Chief Accountant Wanted at Parliament of Malawi

Post: Chief Accountant

Grade F/P5

Salary: Within salary range applicable to Grade F in the Parliamentary Service

Responsible to: Financial Controller

Purpose of the Job

To manage financial resources and provide functional guidance on all accounting activities within the National Assembly,

Duties;

1. Analysing and interpreting financial reports and statements and advising management on the same.
2. Preparing cash flow forecasts on the revenue account.
3. Consolidating and implementing annual budgets;
4. Analysing and interpreting financial reports, statements, treasury desk instructions and other financial guide lines and procedures,
5. Supervising staff to ensure efficient and effectiveness in the discharge of their functions,
6. Preparing financial statements and producing management accounts, Appraising staff under his/tier charge

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor of Accountancy with 6 years post qualification experience in Accounting,
2. Those with a Professional Qualification (ACCA,CPA and CIMA) and /or Master’s Degree in related discipline will have an added advantage, and
3. Experience in Accounting Packages and Microsoft Excel highly desired.
