Institutional Background
Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University- Jhpiego develops innovations for enhancing capacity of health care workers, strengthening health systems and improving delivery of care towards improving the health and well-being of the people.
Since 1999, Jhpiego has been collaborating with Government of Malawi Ministry of Health (MoH) and various partners in implementing a wide-range of activities in maternal health, family planning and reproductive health, newborn and child health, HIV/ AIDS and tuberculosis, and voluntary male medical circumcision.
Data Clerks – 3 Positions (Mitundu or Kabudula Health areas)
Summary Scope of Work
She/he will be responsible for the management of VMMC data at the project zone. Under the direct supervision of the VMMC Data Management Coordinator (DMC), the Data clerk will keep track of all VMMC service delivery data and enter VMMC data into the database for data collected in all VMMC sites within the zone assigned. The VMMC data clerk will also assist the Data Management Coordinator in data quality assurance including routine data collection, validation and verification at VMMC sites to optimize data quality.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection of data from VMMC sites, facilitating the preprocessing of data to locate missing registries/ medical records and following up with facilities to obtain missing data as necessary.
- She/he will help to keep track of received data and source documents.
- Verify accuracy of data entered into computer by performing routine data quality checks (basic validation checks); prepare and submit reports to supervisor
- Bring to the knowledge of the VMMC DMC questions that need to be solved such as inconsistencies or missing data by the originators of the source data.
- Perform data entry functions efficiently and systematically according to the Jhpiego standard operating procedure for Data Management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of activities and completed data entry, follow-ups, and quality checks.
- Provide accurate information to the DMC for inclusion in quarterly, semi-annual and annual program reports
- Ensure all VMMC trainings are entered in TrainSMART and liaise with VMMC Program and Technical Officers on inaccurate information on TrainSMART and ensure accurate information is entered in the database
Required qualifications
- Diploma in Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics
- Experience on computer packages: Word, Excel, PP, Access etc.
- Experience on VMMC data entry
- Competent using computers and Tablet and phone
