Human Resources Business Partner/ Human Resources Manager

Position Purpose
The role is responsible for supporting the business function through the implementation and embedding of all human resource policies, procedures and processes Proactively engaging the business and brings Human Resources to the heart of the operations through identification and support of key people & culture matters, the key HR challenges and opportunities and being the HR specialists who brings relevant solutions which will input and drive the overall Country HR Strategy.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for but not be limited to the following:
  • Prioritizing and implementing the strategic & operational Human Resource initiatives and manages, coaches and mentors the team to successfully implement and execute HR initiatives and daily operational duties.
  • Supporting the line management and Functional Director on identifying key people & organization challenges and opportunities where necessary to provides solutions. Takes accountability for the implementation of such solutions.
  • Managing a team of associates to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and advice across the Employee Life Cycle. Takes full ownership and accountability for the services needed from Recruitment to Termination
  • Ensuring that human resources plan and priorities are fully integrated with the strategy of the business function. Manages the planning, prioritization and execution of his own and the teams work agenda to support the business in meeting their objectives.
  • Consolidating function data for reporting purposes. Analyzing of data for interpretation.
  • Developing solutions to address where relevant Tracks and monitors data providing guidance to business on decisions that need to be made.
  • Assists in the planning and tracking of HC data. Works with the business to interpret data and finds solutions e.g. leave, Overtime, sick days, disciplinary cases •
  • Representing HR and provide generalist HR guidance and input into the project where people are involved.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field (e.g. Employment Law, Industrial Psychology, Public Administration, Business Administration)
  • Minimum of 4 years working in complex HR settings, Commercial organization experience, working with Unions/ Employee Committees, dealing with ER/ IR cases, Training and Development and Organization Development
Skills, Competencies and Languages
  • Fluency in English; MS office
  • Those that have worked with SAP will have an added advantage
  • Good Supervisory Skills
Leaf Buyer

Position Purpose
The role is responsible for ensuring that JTI Malawi buying and pricing policy is implemented as directed by the Leaf Manager/Leaf Buying Manager and ensuring a delivery of a good quality purchase, uniformly and correctly priced in accordance with quality, NTRM free, in line with JTI GLO and LPI set standards and conducting and compiling all data generated during processing and reports for decision making. The position reports to the Leaf Buying Manager
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for but not be limited to the following:
  • Assessing tobacco quality on the auction and direct sales, to determine appropriate tobacco grades and pricing for the delivered tobacco in line with market trends and the companies buying strategies and policies and set buying samples.
  • Participating in post buying processes to ensure that the final arbitration process between growers, Tobacco statutory board and buyers is finalized and tobacco pricing is in line with tobacco quality purchased
  • Ensuring all purchased tobacco is checked thoroughly for any possible defects and NTRM contaminants and that purchased tobacco is inputted into the system correctly and accurately.
  • Assisting the blending and internal grading teams during quality assessment of leaf in the factory and warehouse during receiving and processing to ensure internal grade and blend uniformity to meet set JTI grade standards.
  • Participating in crop assessments and crop throw surveys, to come up with yearly crop volume forecasts and crop mix forecasts for accurate leaf planning.
  • Gathering and provide daily market information for use in the formulation of daily and weekly buying reports.
Qualifications and Experience
  • MSCE (High School Levers Certificate) or diploma in the relevant field
  • 5 years’ experience within the Tobacco industry in the Tobacco Procurement process.
