Team Leader - DFID Strengthening Access to Justice and VAWG Prevention Programme in Malawi


ActionAid is seeking applications for Team Leader for the anticipated DFID funded Strengthening Access to Justice and VAWG prevention programme in Malawi.
The programme aims to strengthen the capacities of communities and institutions to prevent and respond to Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Violence against Children (VAC) and to improve the accessibility, responsiveness and accountability of the justice system for women and girls living with violence in Malawi.
The Team Leader will be responsible for the strategic vision, overall delivery and results of the programme. The TL will hold technical and programme management responsibility, ensuring effective, timely and value for money delivery and that programme activities lead to measurable results.
Person Specification
 Post graduate degree in gender, social development, law or other relevant discipline
 Minimum 10 years’ experience working on complex international development programmes with a similar scope (violence against women, access to justice, social development, governance, social norms and behaviour change)
 Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing VAWG and/or access to justice prevention programmes, with a preference for experience with DFID programmes
 Significant experience working in programming contexts similar to Malawi; experience of working in the Southern Africa Region and particularly Malawi preferred
 Demonstrable understanding of the political and socioeconomic context surrounding violence and access formal and informal justice services in Malawi
 Proven track record of developing and maintaining relationships with high level government officials and civil society organisations
 Demonstrable experience of taking an adaptive approach to programme management
 Experience of leading and managing a team of international and national staff
 Strong skills in monitoring and evaluation, reporting and presentation
 Suitably qualified Malawian nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
