Post: Principal Internal Auditor
Grade: G/P7
Salary: Within salary range applicable to Grade G in the Parliamentary Service
Responsible to: Chief Internal Auditor (F/P5)
Purpose of the Job
To ensure that internal controls, procedures and policies in the management of public resources are followed in line with existing laws and regulations
Duties
- Determining the scope nature and timing of audit activities,
- Planning and executing Internal Audit programmes,
- Reviewing and updating control systems In accordance laid down financial instruments;
- Preparing regular Internal Audit Report of submission to the Clerk of Parliament,
- Verifying that prescribed systems and procedures are adhered to all times and that effective internal controls are in place to prevent internal errors and fraud,
- Examining financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with Government policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Auditing all stores, cash assets and other properties belonging to the National Assembly in accordance with the Public Audit Act and Public Finance Management Act,
- Appraising all staff under his/her charge;
- Ensuring that National Assembly Resources are managed and utilized with due regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness;
- Supervising staff to ensure effective coordinated and consistent delivery of Internal Audit activities,
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Plus a recognized professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA and CIA
- With four (4) years as an Internal Auditor
