Project Officer for the TVET Partnership Program of HWK/TEVETA
The vocational training partnership between the German Chamber of Skilled Crafts (HWK) and the Malawian partner institution TEVETA aims at improving the Quality of vocational education through enhancing interaction and networking between industry and vocational training institutions. This is done in order to provide more demand driven trainings, including more praxis oriented modules and ensure best quality of the training courses. By achieving this, more skilled craftsmen we be available and can find employment on the labor market, the quality of products will improve and Malawi’s economy will benefit.
Objectives of the Project
The vocational training in selected trades in Malawi is increasingly oriented towards the needs of the private sector.
Position Tilde: Project Officer for the TVET Partnership Program of HWK/TEVETA
Reporting to: The German Technical Advisor of HWK/TEVET
Location: Secretariat, Lilongwe, Malawi
Scope of the Work
The Project Officer would support and carry out the following activities in coordination with the German Technical Advisor Partnership cooperation with HWK/TEVETA
- Coordinates protect activities with the German Technical Advisor
- Plans, implements, monitors and evaluates for the agreed protect objectives and results according to the MoU
- Coordinates with all the assigned project partners
- Reorganizes and strengthens institutional structures
- Reports according to schedule
Project Management
- Support communication among the partners
- Supports partnership development
- Networks to nurture current partnerships Initiates and maintains regular meetings among the partners
- Transfer to and discusses within the concerned authorities newly developed policy proposals
Data collection
- Supports data collection with TEVETA and private sector orgarnisations and process data for need analyses in the selected fields
- Adjusts existing plans and instruments
- Develops new instruments in regard to organizational practices, policies and procedures
Training components
- Assesses training needs based on the need analyses
- Identifies training courses
- Develops training schedules
- Reviews and adjusts curricula and teaching aids
- Develops standards
- Prepares for exams regulation and certification of those standards
Finance Administration and Office Management in coordination with the German Technical Advisor
- Budgets for project activities and financial management
- Budget adherence
Reportiing in coordination with the German Technical Advisor
- Regularly reports to counterparts
- Reports to the steering committee and TEVETA management
Length of assignment
Initial contract will begin at the soonest possible date until November 30, 2019, with a possibility of an extension.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should.
- Have a Bachelors Degree in Technical Education or Business Administration
- Those with Masters Degree in Technical Education will hove an added advantage;
- Possess relevant experience and training in project/programme/operations management:
- Have a minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in the held of technical and industrial training in Malawi
- Have deep knowledge in the TVET sector in Malawi
- Experience in training management, industrial training, curriculum development would be an additional asset
- Be Knowledgeable in Financial Management
