- Founded in 1961, Project Concern International (PCI) is a non-profit health and humanitarian aid organization dedicated to preventing disease, improving community health, and promoting sustainable development worldwide (in Malawi since 2007). PCI, with funding from USAID, is implementing a new five year holistic food security program “Njira Project – Pathways to Sustainable Food Security” (Njira) in the Balaka and Machinga Districts of Malawi, with a central PCI office located in Blantyre. Njira program seeks to reduce food insecurity through increased access and availability of diverse and nutritious foods to vulnerable households, improved health and nutrition of pregnant and lactating women and children under five, and improved resilience of vulnerable households to shocks and stresses. PCI Malawi invites motivated and experienced professionals to apply for the position listed below.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Party, the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH) Advisor is responsible for planning and supervising the implementation of RMNCH activities in the Njira project in coordination with other PCI and Njira project staffs. S/he will coordinate the work of activities to ensure that activities are consistent with Njira design and Government of Malawi (GOM) policies and guidelines. S/he will make frequent visits to the impact areas. S/he will be responsible for technical and management tasks associated with field implementation of the RMNCH components of the project. The RMNCH Coordinator will provide technical leadership, guidance and oversight to the RMNCH project team for the timely quality implementation according to the project’s detailed implementation plan; recruit local hire health and nutrition advisors and other local staff working in RMNCH; carry out baseline assessment and periodic measures of progress and achievement of goals in the area of RMNCH; monitor all RMNCH interventions and program activities at the community level; liaison with facility-based services; coordinate training/capacity building in areas related to RMNCH; facilitate the implementation of Quality Improvement efforts, including behavior change, counseling and capacity building; plan and coordinate with the GOM, Ministry of Health, and local partners on project activities; and fulfill reporting and documentation obligations related to RMNCH components.

- Excellent planning skills, must be well organized and capable of completing multiple tasks on deadline, results oriented;
- Excellent English and Chichewa speaking, reading and writing skills required;
- Excellent report writing and computer skills required;
- Good supervisory and teamwork skills
- Required Experience
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a Masters, in a field related to RMNCH, such as: nursing, medicine, public health, maternal and child health, nutrition or community health;
- Minimum of 10 years extensive experience in design, management, support, and monitoring and evaluation of community based MCHN programming;
- Experience working with Title II programs;
- Experience in developing and providing training in maternal and child health, and use of participatory training approaches;
- Ability to work with communities and collaborate with government and other stakeholders;
- Experience working with a complex multi-sectoral program;
- Experience with state of the art MCHN interventions and strategic approaches;
- Heavy local travel and overnight stays in rural areas expected.
