Programme Support and Research Intern

Salary: £14,570 per annum, pro rata (this will be equivalent of approx £6,500 for the duration of the contract)
Duration: Nine months, three days per week
Based: London
We are looking for an intern to provide logistics, ad hoc research, and other ongoing support to the Director of Programmes, and especially in relation to the organisation of a series of internal, international meetings to discuss how to operationalise International Alert’s new five-year strategy.
You have a further degree in a subject related to peacebuilding, you have worked in Africa or Asia, have experience of conducting research, and in communicating across cultures. You have a proven talent for organising complex events, and experience in managing budgets. You are a quick learner who communicates clearly and empathetically in English and also speaks either French or Arabic.
You will be responsible for organising preparations and logistics for three major internal meetings, one in the UK, one in Africa and one in Asia; monitoring and helping to manage the budget for the strategy meetings - for travel, accommodation, etc.; ensuring regular, timely and accurate communication of information to a large number of staff on the strategy process; conducting other logistics and research assignments as requested. This will also be an opportunity to learn about International Alert’s work, and peacebuilding more generally.
