Performing Arts sits within the  Department of Arts which  is an ambitious, innovative and supportive centre for dynamic creative practice and academic study.  Our aim is to make a difference to the artistic and cultural landscape through dedicated research and scholarly activity, the delivery of excellence in learning and teaching, reflective professional practice, knowledge exchange and expertise.  There is a vibrant research culture in Arts and we expect to make strong submissions to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). 
We now wish to appoint an outstanding candidate at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level with a specialism in Performing Arts Practice and/or Theory to join our dynamic and high profile practice and academic research team. The team’s research interests include: Disability and Performance, Digital Performance, Verbatim, documentary and Biographical Theatre, Contemporary Performance Festivals, New Writing and Performance and Philosophy; grouped under the research cluster; Performance and Identity.
Based in our city centre campus in Newcastle upon Tyne, Performing Arts boasts a range of high quality studios and two campus theatres. We are embedded within a range of professional artistic, cultural and community organisations where we produce professional and student led events, festivals and performances. These include; GIFT (Gateshead International Festival of Theatre), Live Theatre, Northern Stage, Dance City, Helix Arts and Mind the Gap
You will have significant expertise in an area of Performance, Drama or Performance Theatre Studies (i.e. Acting, Voice and Performance Techniques, Playwriting and Writing for Performance or 20th and 21st century Performance Practices) and will have an emerging international research/professional profile in your area of specialism.  You will be committed to high quality research and enterprise, and excellence in learning and teaching and hold a relevant PhD and/or equivalent postgraduate or professional qualification/experience.
