Chemonics in Malawi Jobs Feb 2014

Chemonics seeks experienced professionals for the five-year Protecting Ecosystems and Restoring Forests in Malawi project. The purpose of this project is to help Malawian institutions and communities manage forest and soil resources more efficiently, equitably, and sustainably. Projects will address deforestation, forest degradation, and loss of biodiversity through integrated delivery of technical expertise, capacity building, and alternative livelihoods. Individuals residing in Malawi are highly encouraged to apply. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Technical specialist positions include:
  • Deputy chief of party
  • Sustainable livelihoods specialist
  • Biodiversity specialist
  • Climate change adaptation/mitigation specialist
  • Local environmental governance specialist
  • Forestry/land management specialist
  • Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) policy and institutional specialist
  • Grants and subcontracts coordinator
  • Finance and administration director
  • M&E manager
  • Communications specialist
  • Environmental activity fund manager 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required​; advanced degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in a relevant field
  • Experience managing donor-funded natural resource management or biodiversity projects in Africa
  • Experience with the ​REDD+ framework preferred, including MRV and carbon sequestration frameworks 
  • USAID program experience preferred 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Proficiency in written and oral English required
