The Senior Programmer/Analyst updates, develops, maintains and supports implementation of the point of care open source medical records platform OpenMRS. He or she leads the design and implementation of software enhancements and fixes and gathers requirements and creates MOH, EGPAF reports. The Senior Programmer Analyst oversees other IT officers to ensure successful filed implementation.
Job Responsibilities:
Adapt current openMRS medical record system for point of care Assist in the design additional system requirements Follow documentation and development of best practices Coordinate the learning of the development by junior developers Support on the site assessments for implementations of EMR: Provide support for orientation for onsite implementation to clinical staff and Contribute with content expertise to the curriculum for the training health care workers in the use of the EMR Work with project manager to identify data networking needs and design of Local Area Network and Wide Area Networks Represent EGPAF in the OpenMRS Mozambique working group, participating in workshops and meetings, contributing technical expertise and lessons learned for the better good of the health information systems community in Mozambique Collaborate with USG Partners to design and develop protocols and policies for national support of EMR implementation and maintenance. Collaborate with USG Partners to design point of care workflow, user interface, and technical architecture for nationally supported system
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or closely-related field Five years’ progressively more challenging work experience in a software development team, requiring database design, extensive programming, systems development, and system testing in current Java and SQL technologies Web application development experience Experience must include leading a small team for two or more years Proven ability to self-manage and work independently
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience working in resource-constrained environments preferred Healthcare industry experience preferred Experience with developing for mobile devices preferred Experience with OpenMRS or other open source communities preferred Experience in Agile software development methodology Ability to interact and verbally communicate with groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Ability to understand and analyze abstract data with excellent attention to detail.
