Senior Project Officer

The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is an independent, non-governmental pan-African organisation, based in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the past 46 years, it has worked continentally to promote constructive, creative, and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflicts and the reduction of violence. It has produced ground-breaking research on African security and governance issues, has conducted extensive capacity-building training, and facilitated and mediated peace processes across Africa.
CCR’s Conflict Intervention and Peacebuilding Support (CIPS) project conducts training in conflict resolution, mediation, gender, human rights, and HIV/AIDS and security, and provides conflict resolution support and training in African countries such as South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, and South Sudan. It also works closely with African regional organisations and the United Nations (UN).
CCR invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the following position:
SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER: CONFLICT INTERVENTION AND PEACEBUILDING SUPPORT (CIPS)
Key responsibilities:  To assist the Senior Manager in developing a vision, strategies, and operational plans for the project;  To provide quality training interventions in conflict resolution, mediation, and gender issues;  To provide mediation and facilitation services;  To assist in the financial management of the project;  To contribute to building and maintaining the profile of the project internally and externally;  To manage the administration for projects; and  To co-ordinate resource panellists to deliver training interventions.
Requirements:  A Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution; Peace Studies; Social Sciences, African Politics, Gender, or in a related field;  At least five years experience in training and/or education, of which 1 to 2 years should preferably be specialist experience in the field of conflict resolution or mediation in Africa;  Knowledge of conflict management, mediation, and transformation training methodologies and best practices; African conflict resolution issues; peacebuilding and region building; African politics and governance issues; security and development; human rights; and regional and international organisations;  Good verbal, written, and presentation skills in English;  Analytical, organising, and planning skills;  Proven experience in writing training materials;  Financial literacy; and  Computer literacy, i.e. Microsoft Office and internet.
Advantages:  Knowledge and training experience on gender, transforming patriarchy, and masculinities;  Knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation;  Experience in a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) environment;  Practical experience in the field of African politics and conflict transformation;  Political networks in Africa;
 Fluency in African languages; and  Working knowledge of French.
This position involves national and international travel.
