MANDATE OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The mandate of the Regional Support Teams is to provide leadership and coordinate support for an expanded UN system response to AIDS at regional and country levels. Promote, support, and provide guidance to the UN system in the region on Universal Access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support and implementing the Global Task Team recommendations. Coordinate the development of strategic information and document the trends on the epidemic and the response as well as provide intellectual leadership on the status of the AIDS response in the region. Provide managerial support and technical advice and guidance to UNAIDS country offices.
Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Support Team Director and in collaboration with the Operations Officer, the incumbent has the following responsibilities:
Assist programme implementation by delivering timely executive and administrative support to the RST Director on financial, human resource and protocol procedures.
Draft correspondence and briefing notes for the RST Director on key issues relevant to the RST and UNAIDS. Liaise with UNAIDS headquarters, Departments, and Country Offices to ensure quality reports are produced and provided to senior management and partners at regional level upon request.
Contributes to the smooth running of the office and plans RST Director meetings, conferences, and other special events. Track performance targets for the RST and brief RST Director on developments through weekly, monthly, and/or annual reports.
Provide technical support in the RST on regional initiatives related to HIV advocacy, policy and programme planning.
Assists the RST Director on cost-effective policies and procedures in the field of resource management, identifying gaps and advising on the strategic, financial and administrative implications.
Reviews project proposals, and makes recommendations on viability of design including inputs on resource considerations and alignment with RST programme objectives.
All other related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: First university degree in international relations, political science, international development, social sciences, business management or related field
Desirable: Advanced university degree in one of the above mentioned fields.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of work experience in programme planning and executive support. Experience in event management, and protocol related issues. Experience in another UN agency or international organization.
Languages:
Essential: Advanced knowledge of English and French.
Desirable: Good working knowledge of another UN official language.
Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization's Mobility Policy. The above-mentioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
46 819 US $ at single rate
49 916 US $ with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 55.5 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
