Team Leader, Mozambique Nutrition Program

We are currently recruiting for a Team Leader (Project Coordinator), to be based in the Mozambique country office in Nampula, who will be responsible for the overall management, implementation, and monitoring of a coordinated project funded by the World Bank through the Government of Mozambique (GoM) and implemented by Save the Children in Nampula Province. The goal of the project is to provide support to the GoM in their efforts to implement an effective community-based nutrition program in order to reduce chronic malnutrition in the province.
Alongside the GoM, the Team Leader will work closely with the Technical Coordinator and District Nutrition Officers in the target areas to ensure that the project meets is deliverables on schedule and on budget. Activities requiring the Team Leader’s oversight and support will include: the provision of technical assistance to the provincial and district governments for planning, implementing and monitoring activities, including management of the supply chain as it pertains to the nutrition-related products; the management of quality cascade training down to the key staff at health facilities and communities; and the ongoing monitoring of all key activities, ensuring that quality data is received and analyzed in a timely fashion to inform project direction and ensure that targets are being met. The Team Leader will also provide substantial technical input into the design and implementation of operational research. S/he will be responsible for maintaining oversight of overall budget, compliance with donor reporting and requirements, managing human resources, and supervising other management, logistics and administrative activities.
The Team Leader will be the project’s key representative to the GoM at the provincial and district levels, and will be expected to represent Save the Children in national nutrition-related meetings, conferences and other fora as requested.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in public health, nutrition, health sciences or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of managing nutrition or community health projects with preferred expertise in areas such as community based nutrition, infant and young child feeding and maternal health
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Financial and Human Resources
  • Proven experience collaborating with health systems at national and subnational levels
  • Experience in managing contracts with financing over USD1 million
  • Outstanding project management and project cycle skills
  • Strong personnel leadership skills, particularly mentoring skills
  • Solid communication and facilitation skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills with local, national, and civil society stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience managing results-based disbursement contracts
  • Extensive experience working in Africa - Mozambique experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal language skills in both English and Portuguese required
  • Ability to travel frequently within Mozambique
